KEY 7: NEVER GIVE UP
Step Seven: “[We] humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.”
Key Seven: “In loving compassion for every aspect of my being, I humbly surrender to the love of Spirit. I know myself as a perfect expression of Life. I surrender all, and I am restored to the life I am created to live.”
How It Works
Humility is the willingness to know your oneness with love—even when you can’t feel it.
Humility is saying: I have no clue how the Universe is going to change and heal me, but I know that I can’t do it for myself. Unless and until I sincerely, humbly and willingly give Spirit everything, my life is going to continue to be full of drama, crap, half-starts and half-completions, and I will be blocked from living the life of my dreams.
The Work
Set your intention by saying quietly to yourself or out loud:
“My old thoughts and behaviors are not the boss of me. The almighty Universal Presence and Power that resides within my very being is the boss of me. Spirit is governing my life because it is my life. I can’t do it alone and I know I can’t do it alone, but there is an almighty, omnipotent presence that can, and is—even now—renewing my mind and my life.”
Contemplate
In offering all parts of myself to God—the places of myself I am aware of and the places I am not aware of—and walking in the direction of my soul’s true desires, I am healed.
Even though the road of reconstruction is long, I am on my perfect journey. Everything is unfolding in my life—on time and in perfect time.
I revisit the dreams of my childhood—before I forgot who I was—and through complete surrender of my shortcomings, the years that have been lost are given back to me.
Journal
As a result of the work you have done so far, have you come to a place where you understand that your problems are not “out there,” but are mirrors of your own emotional/mental make-up and spiritual disconnection? If not, what are your thoughts about the challenges in your life?
Can you see how your early childhood conditioning “taught” you how to be insane, afraid, delusional, but you were created as an amazing, perfect and complete person? Explain.
Are you ready to stop allowing your destructive, fearful beliefs from running your life?
If not, why not?
If so, how?
Can you believe now that you were created in the image and likeness of a perfect, loving, friendly and unlimited God? Explain.
What does it feel like to experience total liberation from your old story and negative beliefs?
What dreams have you buried that you are now ready to bring back into the light?
Write a two-paragraph script of how your dream is unfolding in your life—from a place of freedom, confidence and self-love.
Affirmations
Key Seven: “In loving compassion for every aspect of my being, I humbly surrender to the love of Spirit. I know myself as a perfect expression of Life. I surrender all, and I am restored to the life I am created to live.”
“I humbly surrender my entire being to the love of Spirit. I am supported by the entire Universe as I surrender to the grace of God that is always my sufficiency, and am guided to perfect and right action.”
“I am walking my talk and taking action in direction of my dreams. As I faithfully move in the direction of my heart’s desire in thought, words and action, I am supported by the entire Universe and my dreams come true.”
Action Steps
Each area of your life that has been revealed as a product or result of old wounds, beliefs and behaviors, is now calling for new action on your part.
Fold a piece of paper in half. On the left side, list the top three issues you are currently dealing with. On the opposite side of the page, write positive actions steps you are willing to take that are in alignment with your healing.
Example:
CURRENT ISSUE POSITIVE Action Steps
Finances out of order; owe money - Start paying off debts (even if it’s at a rate of $2/week)
- Balance checkbook and commit to keeping it balanced
- Stop spending money I don’t have
- Start a savings account, even if I can only contribute a small amount every month
Addiction to sex and relationships - Commit to anonymous meetings
- Find a sponsor, spiritual guide or therapist
- Find a church in alignment with my new beliefs, to ground me in a community of like-minded thinkers
- Ask for help
- Continue to abstain from dating for six months to a year, and totally devote time to my healing
Procrastination of life’s dreams - Get clear about my dream
- Research on internet about how to get started on my dream
- Talk to friends about my dream
- Commit to acquiring the tools I will need to make my dream a reality. If I dream of dancing, I will start taking dance lessons. If I dream of being an entrepreneur, I will read books on business and try to take a class at a local community college. If I want to be an author, I will start writing for 10 minutes every single day.
